The comeback that inspired a cup win

Valencia CF's most memorable game against Getafe CF in recent years is undoubtedly the Copa del Rey comeback in January of this year. A sensational turnaround in the scoreline spurred the team on, not only to win the cup competition itself, but also put together a run that ended with them qualifying for the Champions League.
That night, on January 29th at Mestalla, VCF went behind to a Jorge Molina goal, but a frenetic final spell saw Rodrigo score twice in stoppage time, completing his hat trick and giving no opportunity for a response. They would carry the momentum over to the semifinal against Real Betis, the final against FC Barcelona and the closing matchdays in LaLiga, where they denied Getafe fourth place.
Following the final whistle, the players took to the balcony at Mestalla and were hailed by the fans outside the stadium. The result only served to increase the unity between the team and the supporters in the club's Centenary year.
On Wednesday night the two teams meet again at the same venue, with Valencia CF looking to kickstart the season in earnest with a win on Matchday 6.
